“Live Your Voice Tour” Wraps with 500,000 Fans in 34 Cities
NASHVILLE (July 7, 2008) Tim McGraw’s “Live Your Voice Tour 08” with special guest Jason Aldean and Halfway to Hazard was one of the highlights of the crowded summer concert season. With only 34 amphitheatre and arena shows including a handful of festival dates like Stagecoach, New Orleans Jazz Fest, Grand Junction, Greeley Stampede and Milwaukee’s Summer Fest, McGraw proved once again he is the top draw in country music. McGraw played to nearly 500,000 fans during the run grossing nearly 20 million dollars.
More over, his first solo concert run after the record breaking “Soul 2 Soul” tours with wife Faith Hill proved to be one of his most critically acclaimed tours. The Cleveland Plain Dealer said “their familiarity has bred nothing but excellence” of McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors and the St. Louis Post Dispatch wrote, “he wowed the crowd with a varied play list and an unvaried quality: excellent.” “A smooth and seasoned performer,” remarked the Salt Lake Tribune and The Arizona Republic touted, “Tim McGraw wears the mantle of country music superstardom with the same kind of ease and style in which he sports a Stetson.”
“It was another great McGraw concert event,” said Live Nation representative Brian O’Connell, who was the exclusive promoter this year. “It was especially strong given the state of the economy. We worked hard with Tim’s team to maintain his cutting edge production, trend setting sponsorship programs but giving the fans a break on the price. The average ticket price was less than $50.00 compared to most summer tours on the road this year which averaged $75 or $80.”
McGraw chose the tour name to encourage fans to live their own voice. They were able to do so in a number of different and diverse ways, including registering to vote through “Rock the Vote,” fun and games on site with KC Masterpiece and Kingsford charcoal which served as the presenting sponsor, and the Fritos sponsored “StyleSonic Stage” featuring acts Lance Miller and Catherine Raney. Fritos was also the “Official Snack” of the tour and partnered with McGraw to launch the wildly popular “McGraw’s Spicy Jalapeno Fritos.”
Additionally, McGraw made free music downloads available to every fan who bought a ticket to the concert on his website from artists Halfway to Hazard, Lance Miller, Catherine Raney and Judson Spence. The free music download program will stay in effect through the end of July to give every ticket buyer a chance to participate.
McGraw also debuted three new songs - “Southern Voice”, “You Had to Be There” and “Still” from his new studio album that he has been working on this spring and summer.
McGraw is managed by Scott Siman at RPM Management and his booking agent is Rod Essig at Creative Artists Agency.
