TIM MCGRAW TO PERFORM FOR TROOPS ON SEPTEMBER 11 at FORT SAM HOUSTON in SAN ANTONIO

Information For Release:

Nashville - (September 9, 2008)- Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors will spend September 11th entertaining the troops at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas at MacArthur Field. This special show is organized to entertain San Antonio military personnel and their families. Organizers are anticipating 25,000 in attendance.

“We can only begin to sympathize the immense sacrifice the soldiers and their families make on a daily basis,” says McGraw. “We hope our show gives them a brief interlude of their duties and time to enjoy themselves for a little while.”

Base military personnel will assist in the production staging and running of the show which will include three jumbotron screens. McGraw is donating his performance for this show.

The show is co-produced by the U.S. Army Family and MWR Command, Fort Sam Houston FMWR Directorate and Glenn Smith Presents, Inc.

It is impossible to describe what a patriotic evening this was. A Soldier removed the American Flag from his uniform…Tim took it and put it on the speaker base on the stage. With in minutes, he personally put hundreds of nametags from the soldiers on the stage, singing the whole time. Just when you thought it couldn’t be more intense, one of the stage assistants gave Tim a ‘hand’ [it was a prosthetic hand from a wounded soldier recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center]. Tim held it up and said, “This…this is why we are here!” He then proceeded to autograph the hand and passed it back to the Soldier. Tim is an exceptionally faithful and dedicated American!

Concert at Fort Sam September 11th I remember it well. I have a daughter who was in Washington D.C. that day. Last night I went for the fun, but it was not all that I received. After the moment of silence at 7 p.m., the National Anthem, and America the Beautiful , Tim McGraw came on stage. He sang many songs, but one in particular allowed me to feel the sorrow of a child who is not only sent to war, but also killed. I sobbed for those people who can never hug their mothers again. Lord I pray for all the mothers with children as well as my own in this war, and Lord send a special blessing out to Tim McGraw and his Crew. They gave me something more than fun...they gave me perspective.

As a Pentagon attack survivor, this is always a personally tough day. While my husband and I were not physically harmed, we lost many close friends and went to too many funerals. We transferred to Fort Sam 5 years ago. I appreciate Tim's willingness to bring great music, heartfelt respect, and a different ending to this day. To see our troops enjoying the concert, and Tim's engagement in them, was a positive note. While it cannot take away the pain of that day, or for the families of our troops who have given their lives to defend us from terrorism, for me I enjoyed seeing the smiles and laughter, dancing and "HOOAHs" mixed with the tears and thoughts of remembrance. Tim, thanks !

My 19 year old daughter is at Ft. Sam and is so excited to see TIm...Thank you so much for making her day alot brighter...I have not seen her since April when she graduated from Basic! You are a wonderful and generous man!

This kind of generosity is what makes Tim "entertainer of the year" in my books. I am a huge Canadian fan and a family member of ours left for Afganistan this past week. I know the troops in Texas will love the concert put on by Tim and the DHD, they are the best. Keep doing what your doing Tim, we love your music and concerts!

Tim,you are wonderful,wish I could be there when you put on your show for the troops and their families. I am not surprised about this. you do this a lot and I am so proud to be a fan. My husband is retired and we were stationed there many years ago.those people will appreciate what you are doing for them. God bless you,Tim and the Dancehall Doctors.
